Research Focus
The central theme of my research program is to understand the host-pathogen interactions, including disease pathology in microbial infections of humans, using various preclinical animal models (mouse, guinea pig, hamster, and rabbit) and in vitro systems (cell culture and spheroids). Another area of focus is to delineate the host permissive versus protective immune response in infectious diseases. Finally, we are interested in developing/evaluating host-directed therapy and vaccines for infectious diseases.
